Final Planning Meeting

The planning team for the National Night Out event will meet on Monday, 24 July.  It’ll be quick, starting a 7:00 PM and ending no later than 8:00, probably much sooner.  We’ll meet at the Humboldt Rec Center.

July Meeting

Wait, it’s July already??  Well, yes it’s time for our July meeting.  Come and join us for the Pocket Neighborhood meeting on Monday July 10th, 7:00 PM at the Humboldt Recreation Center on Atlantic Avenue.  We’ll be planning the National Night Out picnic and hear from our police officers.  There may be cookies, see you there!

Clean Sweep Pocket Edition

We are organizing a clean sweep of the Pocket area around Atlantic Avenue.  It will take place on June 24 at 10:00 AM.  We’ll meet in the Rec Center parking lot and fan out from there.  Bags will be provided by the city.  Afterward we can gather at Salvator’s for lunch.  Come help us make our neighborhood a little cleaner.  For questions or ideas, contact Kevin Wilson at (315)292-8306.

June Meeting

It’s June, the weather is finally starting to warm again and it’s time for another Pocket Neighborhood meeting.  Join us on Monday evening, June 12th from 7:00 to 8:00 at the Humboldt Recreation Center; 1045 Atlantic Ave.  We’ll talk about plans for the summer, updates from our neighborhood police officers and hear about the gardens.

In the last few weeks, Greenlight Networks has announced three segments that cover most of the Pocket Neighborhood north of Atlantic Ave.  If you have been hoping for Fiber Optic internet service in your area, this is where is starts.

May Pocket Meeting

Neighborhood History

Did you know that the Pocket was part of Brighton before 1909?  Historic Brighton will be presenting a program called “Digging for Our Dutch Roots” on Sunday April 30 at 2:00 PM.  The free presentation will be made in the sanctuary of Trinity Reformed Church by Arlene Vanderlinde and  include points about local dutch influence around north-west Brighton.  Trinity is located at 909 North Landing Road.

April Pocket Meeting

At long last, the meeting you’ve been waiting for!  A chance to emerge from your Winter hiding place and check in with the folks that live around you.  Join us at the Humboldt Recreation Center at 1045 Atlantic Avenue from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 10th.

We’ll hear from our neighborhood police officers, discuss plans for the gardens and other neighborhood news.

March 13th Meeting!

Come out to the Humboldt Rec Center (1045 Atlantic Ave) on Monday, March 13th for our first Pocket Neighborhood meeting!  We expect to hear from section police officers and to talk about plans for the gardens in 2017.  We’ll meet from 7:00 to 8:00.  Come find out what your neighbors have been up to over the winter.
