Neighborhood History

Did you know that the Pocket was part of Brighton before 1909?  Historic Brighton will be presenting a program called “Digging for Our Dutch Roots” on Sunday April 30 at 2:00 PM.  The free presentation will be made in the sanctuary of Trinity Reformed Church by Arlene Vanderlinde and  include points about local dutch influence around north-west Brighton.  Trinity is located at 909 North Landing Road.

March 13th Meeting!

Come out to the Humboldt Rec Center (1045 Atlantic Ave) on Monday, March 13th for our first Pocket Neighborhood meeting!  We expect to hear from section police officers and to talk about plans for the gardens in 2017.  We’ll meet from 7:00 to 8:00.  Come find out what your neighbors have been up to over the winter.

No Winter Pocket Meetings

There will be no Pocket meeting on Monday, 14 November. We’re going to take a hiatus from meetings through the holidays and winter months. We plan to pick up again in March, with the first meeting of 2017, planned for Monday, 13 March. We’ll be focusing readying the gardens for the 2017 season and discussing other plans for the spring & summer. We’re looking for expanded participation from the neighborhood. There’s lots that we can do but are limited by the small numbers who are involved.

Thanks for your support in 2016, we look forward to seeing you all again in 2017!

If you’re interested in helping out in the Pocket and perhaps taking on a leadership role please send an e-mail to rocpocket@autometrics.us

No meeting August 8th

While we do meet the second Monday of most months, we’ll be giving you August off.

Thanks to all who supported and attended the National Night Out picnic, it was  great to see so many folks come.  It took significant effort to get that going, so thanks to all who contributed!
